Horse welfare is a priority for us at Kinshaldy - our horses are our family, and retired horses remain in our care until the end of their natural lives. We also have a number of rescue horses that we care for. 

We use around twenty horses in the riding school; Kinshaldy horses are trained for school work and hacking, and we have a wide range of horses from 13 hands to 16.3 hands. We have horses who can look after the most nervous rider, and horses that can meet the needs of the most experienced rider. 

We take care to match the horse and rider so that the horse's abilities don't outstrip the rider's ability. Our horses are clever - they know how experienced you are, and they will adjust their behaviour to suit your experience!

Each horse has a rider weight limit to avoid injury; all horses are mounted from mounting blocks to avoid back strain to the horse.
